Position Summary
Position performs variety of skilled and unskilled tasks associated with maintenance of the Township’s grounds and facilities.
Position Description
Responsibilites
- Operates wide range of motorized and non-motorized equipment and tools incluuding but not limited to: Twp. pick-uo truck with attached utility trailer, zero turn lawn mower, walk behind mower, weed whip, hedge trimmer and leaf blower.
- Performs inspections and maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Assists with construction and maintenance of trails and safety paths.
- Assists with painting fire hydrants, buildings, generators, etc.
- Assists other work divisions when assigned.


Education/Experience/License/Certification
- Landscaping experience preferred.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Knowledge of working with landscaping equipment or ability to learn easily.
- Ability to operate tractor, utility vehicle and mower.
- Ability to identify unsafe conditions and determine course of action to rectify situation.
- Ability to handle pressures relating to situations needing immediate attention.
- Ability to periodically lift, push or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as to climb/bend/stoop/crawl when performing custodial or maintenance functions.
- Experience painting a plus.
- Must be self motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team.


Seasonal Hours
This position is a seasonal position that starts work in April. The seasonal position will entail 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8a - 5p with an hour of unpaid lunch. Weekends off!
