Position Description
GENERAL SUMMARY
The Meal Program Driver/Helper/Attendant position provides day-to-day home delivery of meals to qualifying residents of the Town of Medley. Employees in this classification are responsible for the preparation and distribution of both Hot Meals and Weekend Cold Lunches.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXCERCISED
This is a full-time position and is classified as non-exempt under the FLSA. The Meal Program Driver/Helper/Attendant reports directly to the Hot Meal Program Director.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of basic support services for senior center in areas such as answering phones, maintaining the facility clean, assisting with the onsite meals program, delivering meals, and supporting other program activities and services in the Hot Meal Department.

Sets up daily coffee service; replenishes paper goods.

Cleans, washes, and stores kitchen equipment such as warmers, trays, pots, and pans, and disposes of garbage.

Takes and documents temperature of all foods.

Counts, packs, and separates appropriate menu items in containers, counts meals for delivery route, and assists with loading meal carriers on vehicles.

Delivers food to homebound seniors in the community.

Stores supplies upon delivery; monitors inventory of supplies.

Follow all food health and safety guidelines and requirements.

Performs other duties as assigned by the Hot Meal Program Director.


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma from an accredited institution or Equivalent preferred.

One (1) year experience food service required, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential duties of the job.

Current CPR & First Aid Training (must obtain within 3 months of hire).

Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.

Ability to establish, maintain and promote effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, and the public.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

Able to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.

Knowledge of food preparation and food safety.


WORK AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical abilities described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Work may be performed in an indoor and/or outdoor field environment; travel from site to site; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, and all types of weather and temperature conditions may be present. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time; to frequently stoop, bend, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. While performing these duties employee may be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. May require finger dexterity: picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand as in handling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distance vision, peripheral, and depth perception. The successful applicant is required to appear before the Medley Town Council.
