Position Summary
The Part-Time Clerk’s primary objective is to perform day to day clerical duties, assisting the public and all other duties as required operating the front desk area of the Senior Division of the Department of Parks, Recreation, Seniors.
Position Description
• Answers a high volume of phone calls, accepts registrations, gives information, and maintains files.
• Perform registration functions for all classes, programs, trips, rentals etc. into the Rec Pro system.
• Enforces registration criteria, such as registration deadlines and refund policy.
• Provide information and assistance to the public regarding Senior Center services and refer to appropriate staff members.
• Ability to work effectively and courteously with other employees and the public.
• Take in fees for classes and all programs.
• Helps maintain statistic and record keeping for Senior Community Center.
• Compile participation and attendance reports, generated through registration software & in Microsoft Excel, for all activities including programs, leagues, and special events, as requested.
• Perform related clerical work and correspondence as requested.
• Transfer calls to Senior Transportation Dispatcher for daily ride requests and document calls if needed.
• Assist with transportation reports and records when needed.
• Flexible, with the ability to multi-task.
• Other duties as assigned.

•High School Diploma or equivalent
•Minimum of two years’ work related office experience is preferred
•Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel applications
•Experience with computers and able to type quickly and accurately
•Experience in customer service

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
•Excellent communication skills. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
•Ability to type with speed and accuracy.
•Ability to work accurately and quickly under operational deadlines.
•Ability to learn and utilize ReCPro software application used by the Department, with emphasis on accuracy and speed.
•Ability to handle requests and furnish information to general public in person, on the telephone, via fax and/or email, quickly, accurately and in a professional manner.
•Ability to work in a face paced work environment.
•Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office 2003, specifically Word and Excel, with ability and willingness to enhance skills over time.
•Considerable mental and visual skills to prepare records, reports, and tabulations.
•Knowledge of cash handling and accounting principles.
•Ability to organize work and work independently, as well as with a team.

Independence Fest
It is mandatory that all Parks, Recreation, and Seniors Staff works at least one 8 hour shift on the 4th of July for Independence Fest. The job duty on this day will not reflect the duties of the above position.
