This position is an entry level full-time Firefighter/Paramedic position for the Independence Fire Department.

•Current Michigan Paramedic License or National Registry Paramedic (NREMT-P) *required by date of hire
•OFFT Firefighter I and II Certificate or nationally recognized equivalent (ProBoard), or (IFSAC) *required by date of hire
•Successful completion of CPAT of OPAT *may be required by date of hire
•EMT's must obtain their Paramedic License within 1 Year from date of hire.

If a candidate is chosen for employment, he/she will be employed on a probationary status for a period of one year. The candidate chosen for this position will be required to submit to and pass a post-offer medical exam that will include drug screening prior to employment.

Working Hours: Rotating 24 hour shifts 0800-0800
2023 Salary Range: $50,373 - $77,616
$5,433 Paramedic License Stipend

Holiday Pay, Food Allowance, Special Teams Pay

Tuition Reimbursement up to $3,000 annually

Defined Contribution Plan 401a - 20% Max Employer Contribution with 5% Employee Contribution, 25% Total

Insurance: Medical, Dental, Optical, Disability, Life provided as determined by Collective Bargaining Agreement

Retirement HCSP - 3% of annual base salary

PTO 11-20 days (5 year step program)
