Position Summary
THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND PARKS AND RECREATION CHILDCARE ATTENDANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OVERSEEING THE ACTIVITIES IN THE CHILDCARE PROGRAM.
Position Description
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
THIS POSITION IS CLASSIFIED AS EXEMPT AND IS A PART TIME POSITION WORKING LESS THAN 1500 HOURS PER YEAR. THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND PARKS AND RECREATION CHILDCARE ATTENDANT REPORTS DIRECTLY TO THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND PARKS AND
RECREATION DIRECTOR.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE

MANAGES STUDENT MISCONDUCT PROMPTLY AND RESOLVES CONFLICT AND CRISIS EFFECTIVELY

MONITORS STUDENT PROGRESS

MUST MAINTAIN A SAFE AND SECURE ENVIRONMENT

REPORTS ALL ACCIDENTS AND INCIDENTS

WORKS EFFECTIVELY WITH STAFF, PARENTS, AND TEACHERS TO SUPPORT STUDENT LEARNING

ACCEPTS AND INCORPORATES FEEDBACK FROM THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR

USE CURRENT SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMS TO ASSIST CHILDREN IN COMPLETING ASSIGNMENTS

PARTICIPATE IN ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES INCLUDING FIELDTRIPS, TRAININGS, AND OTHER REQUIRED PROGRAMS AS NEEDED

ENSURES CORRECT ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL PROCEDURES ARE FOLLOWED

EXPECTED TO WORK AT SPECIAL EVENTS

BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER AN EMERGENCY EMPLOYEE MAY BE TEMPORARILY ASSIGNED TO WORK AND PERFORM DUTIES
OUTSIDE THEIR NORMAL SCOPE OF THEIR POSITION, LOCATION AND WORK SCHEDULE MAY BE CHANGED TO FIT THE NEEDS OF THE DEPARTMENT

PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES ASSIGNED BY THE SOCIAL SERVICES AND PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR


MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA PREFERRED

FORTY (40) OR MORE HOURS OF CHILDCARE TRAINING AND CERTIFICATIONS THROUGH THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND
FAMILIES PREFERRED (MUST COMPLETE WITHIN 1 YEAR OF HIRE)

CPR & FIRST AID CERTIFICATION (MUST OBTAIN WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF HIRE)


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
TO PERFORM THIS JOB SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH DUTY SATISFACTORILY. THE REQUIREMENTS LISTED BELOW ARE REPRESENTATIVE OF THE KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND OR ABILITY REQUIRED.

ABILITY TO ESTABLISH, MAINTAIN, AND PROMOTE EFFECTIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH SUBORDINATES, OTHER AGENCIES,

KNOWLEDGE OF CHILDCARE TRAINING AND PROCEDURES

MUST BE COMPUTER LITERATE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF MICROSOFT WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT…
