The following documents are required for a Building Permit Application: Building Drawings, Site Plan, Zoning Referral (cities and villages & Townships of Benton, Hamlin and Windsor), Septic and/or well Permit(s), Soil Erosion Permit, Proof of Ownership/Legal Description, Driveway Permit, & Site Plan.

TO ENSURE TIMELY PROCESSING OF YOUR PERMIT APPLICATION, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO CAREFULLY READ THE INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE GETTING STARTED.
Thank you for using Eaton County's Online Permit Applications and Inspection module. If you have any questions please call the Eaton County Dept. of Construction Codes & Planning and Zoning at 517-543-3004.
Contractors: If you are a contractor, engineer, surveyor, or design professional, you will be required to log in to your contractors account before applying for a permit. If you do not have an account, you will need to create one. Begin by using the Currently not signed in drop down above and choose Register. Enter your username, email and password and click create. You will be asked for a web pin. Please contact Eaton County's Dept. of Construction Codes & Planning and Zoning office to receive your pin. Once you receive your web pin, you can log in and make your application request. If a contractor attempts to make application as a homeowner, your request will be denied.
Homeowners: You may apply for a permit as a homeowner. You may only apply for a permit on a property that is your primary residence.
Begin the online application process by performing the property search in Step 1 below.
Address
o If your address does not appear, enter the house number only and click search. Choose the property from the list that populates. If you still do not see the address, contact Eaton County Dept. of Construction Codes.
Parcel Number
o Enter format as ###-###-###-###-##
o Can be found on your tax statement.
Name
o Can search by first & last name or just last name.
All Permit applications shall be submitted electronically no paper applications will be accepted, by filling in the disclaimer box(s) this will suffice in the place of a signature.
All commercial projects will require a wet seal or electronic seal.
Credit/Debit card payments can be made using the online portal. Money Orders and Checks are accepted via mail or in person.
